A national committee has been appointed to oversee the coordination and distribution of foreign humanitarian aid for communities affected by recent floods in Sri Lanka. 

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara announced the formation during a press briefing at the Disaster Management Centre(DMC). 

He said the committee will ensure that all aid and equipment provided by foreign countries is properly delivered to those in need. 

The committee has been appointed with immediate effect and will be chaired by Deputy Minister Jayasekara.
