Parliament today (9) passed the Chief of Defence Staff (Repeal) Bill without a division, following a five-hour debate.

The Bill repeals the Chief of Defence Staff Act, No. 35 of 2009, effectively abolishing the position of Chief of Defence Staff.

All movable and immovable property of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff will be transferred to the Ministry of Defence.
