The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has called an emergency executive committee meeting for today(7) to discuss issues arising from recent medical officer transfers in the Ampara District.

GMOA Assistant Secretary, Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya, stated the meeting will determine the next steps for their ongoing trade union action in the district. 

The association is opposing what it claims are arbitrary transfers by the Ampara District Health Administration, noting that the government has not yet addressed the issue.
