The Department of Meteorology stated that showers will occur at times in the Uva Province and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Ampara and Batticaloa districts today (07).

Several spells of showers are also expected in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district.

Showers or thundershowers may develop at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm likely in some areas.

Fairly strong winds of about 30–40 kmph can be expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in the Matale, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

Misty conditions are expected during the early morning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle, Matara and Badulla di

stricts.
