Three students were hospitalised after a bulldozer operated by workers of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) for renovation work crashed into a boundary wall of the C.W.W. Kannangara College in Borella yesterday (12), the Police said.
The wall reportedly collapsed upon impact, injuring three students who were nearby at the time of the incident, due to the falling debris. One of the injured students is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital.
The injured students are 16-year-olds who had been at the school playground when the accident occurred. The 48-year-old driver of the backhoe has been arrested, and the vehicle has been taken into Police custody.
