President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the upcoming Budget will give priority to rural road development, drinking water supply and waste management.

He made the remarks at a District Coordination Committee meeting held at the Batticaloa District Secretariat.

The President directed officials to prepare reports on water supply needs in Batticaloa and to implement temporary solutions until long-term projects are completed.

He also instructed that planned road and bridge projects be started within this year, according to the President’s Media Division.

Discussions were also held on land issues, flood control, healthcare, housing compensation and development projects in the district.
