President of the Vehicle Importers’ Association of Sri Lanka (VIASL), Prasad Manage, stated that vehicle importers are facing difficulties obtaining fuel under the QR code-based fuel quota system.
Speaking at a media briefing today (16), he noted that vehicles arriving at Hambantota Port cannot be transported to Colombo due to fuel shortages under the current system.
Manage stated that around 100 to 150 vehicles are imported monthly and requested a special QR system or fuel quota for unregistered vehicles.
He noted that the association is willing to hold discussions with the government to address the issue.
