The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has decided to provide a monthly allowance of Rs. 10,000 for children of parents employed overseas who are enrolled in daycare centres.

The allowance will apply to children aged between 2 and 13 years.

Officials informed the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Women and Child Affairs that the programme will be implemented for families where the overseas worker earns more than USD 400 per month.

An initial allocation of Rs. 10 million has been set aside for the initiative, with payments expected to be made through District Secretariat offices after final approvals are granted.
