The Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka says the sun will be positioned directly over Sri Lanka from today until 15 April.

Areas including Dodanduwa, Rathgama, Akuressa, Ranna and Ussangoda will experience the sun directly overhead today.

The department also warned that the heat index how hot it feels on the human body is expected to reach caution levels across several provinces, including Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern, North-Western, North-Central, and Northern, as well as Monaragala district.

Authorities have advised the public to take precautions to minimize heat-related impacts.
