Establishing a new public transport culture is the main objective of the Metro Bus service, Presidential Secretary Nandika Sanath Kumanayake stated.

He made the remarks today (4) at the opening of the Thalangama Depot of Lanka Metro Transit, held under his patronage and that of Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr Prasanna Gunasena.

Kumanayake stated that the initiative is not merely about introducing new buses, but about creating a new culture in public transportation.

The service aims to provide passengers with comfortable buses, respectful service, safer journeys and a better travel experience, he noted.

He added that the ultimate goal is to encourage people who currently travel alone in private vehicles to use public transport with comfort and ease.
