Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayna, deployed as part of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar initiative, arrived in Colombo on 15 May, marking the seventh port call of the second edition of the multinational deployment programme.
The vessel carries a multinational crew from 16 countries, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Myanmar, Singapore, Seychelles, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Timor-Leste and the United Arab Emirates.
The deployment began from Mumbai on 2 April following combined harbour training conducted for officers and sailors at Indian naval training establishments.
According to the Indian Navy, the training programme covered seamanship, navigation, communication procedures, safety at sea, firefighting, damage control and specialised operations including Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) procedures and advanced bridgemanship.
