The Department of Meteorology has warned of increased rainfall in parts of Sri Lanka over the next few days as a new low-pressure area develops over the Bay of Bengal.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North Western provinces, as well as Galle and Matara.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is possible in some areas. The public has been advised to take precautions during thundershowers.
