The 5-megawatt “Diyajanani” floating solar power plant at Ibbankatuwa Tank in Dambulla was connected to Sri Lanka’s national grid today (18).

The 10.5-acre project is expected to generate enough electricity annually to meet the needs of around 7,500 households.

The project is also expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by around 6,440 metric tonnes and save approximately 2.5 million litres of diesel and US$3 million in foreign exchange each year.
