A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Molucca Sea in Indonesia at 6:48 a.m. today, triggering a tsunami warning and waves up to 30cm.

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) confirmed no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka, which is now declared safe.

One death has been reported in Manado from falling rubble, with reports of damaged buildings and panic among residents.

Authorities in neighboring countries, including the Philippines and Malaysia, are monitoring the situation, but no destructive tsunami is expected.
