United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire following a dramatic escalation in the Iran-Israel conflict, including U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Guterres expressed grave concern over the use of force, warning the crisis poses a direct threat to global peace and security. He reiterated that there is no military solution and urged all parties to return to diplomatic negotiations.
U.S. President Donald Trump declared that Iranian nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan had been “totally obliterated” in a long-range bombing raid, calling it a “spectacular military success.”
Iranian authorities have yet to confirm the full extent of the damage, as casualty numbers continue to rise—with over 430, Iranians and 24 Israelis reported dead in ongoing attacks.
