President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the health officials to closely and strictly monitor the self-quarantine process once the curfew is lifted, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said. The PMD said all members of families of COVID-19 infected patients have been placed under self-quarantine in their own houses. “About 84,000 people at 31,457 houses islandwide are undergoing self-quarantine. In the Western Province, 40,676 people are undergoing quarantine at 13,911 houses,” it said. The President gave the instructions to the officials at another meeting of the Presidential Task Force established to Combat COVID-19 which was held at the Presidential Secretariat this morning. At the meeting, the President said if an infected person was found from the community, special attention should be paid to look into their whereabouts and associates. “Identified areas should be isolated if necessary,” he said.
