World’s fastest selling smartphone to enter Sri Lanka

Realme, which recently became the fastest smartphone brand ever to record 50 million product sales, has officially announced its plans to enter the Sri Lankan market. realme has expanded to over 61 markets globally in just two years. It is amongst the top 5 smartphone brands in over 13 of these markets and ranks seventh on the global stage, with youth making up most of its customer base, according to research findings of the company. The spokesman of realme Sri Lanka was upbeat about the entry to Sri Lanka and said, “We believe in growing with the future leaders around the world as they face unique challenges and respond with creativity. The Sri Lankan youth has shown exceptional drive and passion to make their mark in the global map and we are excited empower their journeys. realme smartphones are trendsetters with the best features and technologies catering to youth, that we excited to introduce to the Sri Lankan market”. According to Counterpoint's third quarter (Q3) 2020 smartphone shipment report realme was the fastest brand to reach the 50 million smartphone sales milestone, which was achieved in merely nine quarters. realme also recorded a high level of quarterly shipments of 14.8 million and is the world’s fastest-growing brand in Q3 2020 as it grew 132% Quarter on Quarter (QoQ) for the quarter. Counterpoint also noted that realme’s growth rate in shipments volume represents “the strongest growth momentum among major global OEMs (original equipment manufacturers)”. “realme grew to become one of the top 5, or even top 3, brands in its key markets, including India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Philippines and some other Southeast Asian countries”, says Research Analyst Abhilash Kumar at Counterpoint. “With its efforts to bring the affordable yet premium-like products to consumers, as well as its ability to offer smooth digital shopping and after-sales services in different countries, realme has emerged as the most resilient brand during and after the pandemic crisis”. “At realme, we live out our philosophy, which is to dare to leap into the forefront of innovation, design and product value, which is something young people can identify with,’ says Sky Li, realme’s CEO. Though young, realme has won five top international design awards and collaborated with world-class notable designers on its products through the realme Design Studio. realme was one of the first companies to utilize the Snapdragon 865/765G processor and introducing the 64MP camera on a phone. In India, realme sold over 1 million smart individual audio devices, reaching first spot in market share in Q2 2020. So far, realme has released over 50 AIoT products in 2020, with plans to double it in 2021.
