  • Horana-Col. 120 bus strike continues over new permit issue

A special shuttle bus service has been arranged for devotees visiting the Gangaramaya Temple in Hunupitiya, for the exposition of the bodily relics to be brought from Gujarat, India.

The exposition is scheduled to be held from 6 a.m. tomorrow (5) to 7 a.m. on 11 February.

To facilitate public access to the Temple, special shuttle bus services have been arranged from the following locations: the Parking area at the Old Defence Ministry Grounds (MOD Park), and the Parking area near the Lake House roundabout.

Members of the public arriving from the Kompannavidiya Railway Station can reach the parking area near the Lake House roundabout on foot. Those coming from the Colombo Fort Railway Station can also reach the Lake House roundabout parking area on foot via the D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha. The Police Media Division has informed the general public that the bus service will operate around the clock using both state and private buses at a nominal fare.

Meanwhile, the strike launched by luxury and general service bus operators along the Horana-Colombo (120) route, which began on Monday (2), continued for the second consecutive day yesterday (3). The strike was launched in protest against the issuance of a new permit for a bus operating from Horana to Pettah via the Kahathuduwa interchange of the Southern Expressway on the 120 bus route.
