A group of people representing different religious beliefs gathered to tie white cloths at Borella Cemetery in protest against the cremation of a 20 days old baby died from COVID-19. The demonstrators representing the Liberation Movement Sri Lanka gathered outside the crematorium of the cemetery to tie white cloths in protest. "We are a group of young women activists and lawyers who united to protest against the forced cremations that had occurred recently," stated Human Rights Activist Amalini De Sayrah. "In accordance with the health regulations and social distancing, the group of 30 people, including Catholics and Christian nuns and Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims and Free Trade Zone workers, tied white cloths as a silent resistance against the forced cremation, including that of the 20 days old baby," she further said.
