A Gazette notice has been issued by the Election Commission (EC) outlining the maximum amount a presidential candidate can spend per voter, and the total budget of a candidate’s election campaign.

Accordingly, the maximum amount a presidential candidate can spend per voter registered in the voter list is Rs. 109.00, while the total budget of a candidate’s election campaign should not exceed Rs. 1,868,298,586.00.

The EC stated that these limits have been set after consulting with all recognised political party candidates, candidates of other political parties and independent presidential candidates.

The expenditure reports of the election campaign expenses must be submitted to the EC within 21 days after the announcement of the election results.
