Four Buddhist monks, including Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thero, and six others have been further remanded over the Trincomalee Buddha statue incident.

The Trincomalee Magistrate’s Court ordered that they be remanded until January 28.

The group was arrested for allegedly violating coastal conservation laws by placing a Buddha statue at Trincomalee Bodhiraja Viharaya.

The Coast Conservation Department stated that the statue was constructed without approval.
