Don’t blame TUs, teacher-principal issues have been ongoing for decades: Dayasiri
a year ago
In reference to the Teacher-Principal salary anomalies, State Minister of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Products Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that the same has been an issue for over 24 years, yet was always bypassed, and now the people are creating chaos for something which has been ongoing for a long time. This was said during a media brief held today (18). "Teachers have been facing this issue for over 24 years, and now the Government is faced with this additional pressure. We cannot blame the Trade Unions. Joseph Stalin, Mahinda Jayasinghe, JVP, UNP or anyone. All they want is their issues fixed. They themselves keep forming each other up," stated Jayasekara. Earlier today, the teachers and principals decided at a meeting that they would resume back to duties on the 25th of October, despite their salary anomaly demands not being fully resolved.
