Mahindananda agrees with SJB’s stance on Kuttiarachchi’s defamatory statement

Speaking in Parliament a short while ago, Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that he is not against the action taken by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya in regards to the controversial statement made by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi. "Recently, some SJB female MPs spoke about the prices of vegetables. They showed beans, leeks, potatoes and brinjals and emphasised on the increased cost of the vegetables. Whereas, MP Kuttiarachchi made a controversial statement in Parliament and quoted some ladies' names, which I do not blame the SJB for taking action against. The ladies referred to the vegetables to show the increase in the prices and nothing else," said Aluthgamage. He went on to say that in response to the statements made by the female SJB MPs, the cost of vegetables has gone up not only because of the lack of fertiliser, but also because of the prevailing weather conditions with heavy rainfall.
