The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs announced two appointments Monday (20), with experienced administrators, taking over key leadership roles to drive national initiatives in their respective fields.

Gamini Wickramapala, officially assumed duties as the Director General of the National Youth Corps. 

With over 30 years of experience in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS), Wickramapala brings vast expertise to his new role. 

He has previously served as Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Director General, Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority Chairperson, and as the Acting Chairperson of the National Youth Services Council.

Retired Navy officer G.N. Ranjith Wimalarathna, was appointed as the new Chairperson of the Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority. 

Wimalarathna, a science graduate from the University of Kelaniya, served in the Sri Lanka Navy for 25 years, concluding his career as a Commander.

Both were presented with their appointment letters by the Sports Minister at the Ministry premises.
