Some members of the governing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) seem to be blaming the current crises faced by the Government, as well as its shortcomings, on the Government’s allied organisations such as Viyathmaga.
SLPP MP Jagath Kumara told a news conference held at the SLPP headquarters that the Government members will have to prepare to sit in the Opposition if it fails to create an environment conducive for people to live.
He had noted that there was suspicion growing on whether members of organisations like Viyathmaga had joined the Government and taken over positions in state institutions to destroy the country.
“We believed that we could salvage the country with the experience of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, together with their love for the country. I believe they are still working to achieve this target. However, there are questions whether those who joined through various “magas” (Viyathmaga) among others are working to destroy the country after assuming positions. The request by the people is for the President and Prime Minister to build a country where even the people at the grassroots could live a decent life. Otherwise we will all have to prepare to sit in the Opposition,” the MP had added. SLPP slams Viyathmaga?
