CEB says fuel from CPC enough only till tomorrow
a year ago
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has confirmed that the fuel received from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is only enough to last until Tuesday (18) morning, and a special discussion is due to take place this week for a long term plan to the fuel shortage, says Minister of Power Gamini Lokuge. He made this statement during a media brief yesterday (16). "We hope to discuss this again with the CPC on providing fuel until the 22nd of January. The debt of 80-90 Billion Rupees, which Gammanpila was referring to, was not under our Government. If the CPC does not give us fuel until the 22nd of January, we will have to decide what can be done," said Lokuge. Meanwhile, the CPC said that the diesel was supplied to the CEB as it was an emergency requirement, whereas the duration of power cuts can be extended if the CEB does not provide an immediate solution.
