SLPP is not insane to appoint Ranil as PM: Abeygunawardena

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is not insane to appoint United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister as Sri Lanka already has an apt Prime Minister, says Ports and Shipping Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena. He made this statement while speaking to reporters today (28). “Ranil Wickremesinghe comes from Sri Lanka’s oldest political party and that party eventually became well known as the political party that could not even win a single seat in Parliament. The SLPP is not insane to appoint him as a Prime Minister,” Abeygunawardena stated. Abeygunawardena was responding to a question posed by a journalist who questioned him whether the Government was considering a joint leadership and if plans were afoot to re-appoint the former Prime Minister once again.
