The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning of a high likelihood of thundershowers accompanied by strong lightning in certain areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.  

The department also cautioned that temporary strong winds may occur in these regions during thunderstorms, posing additional risks to residents and property.  

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the dangers associated with lightning and strong winds.

It is recommended to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and secure loose objects that could become projectiles.  

Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide updates as necessary to ensure public safety.
