The United National Party (UNP) has created a new senior role titled Deputy Secretary General of Political Mobilization and appointed former Minister Harin Fernando to the post with immediate effect.

According to a party statement, Fernando will be responsible for uniting political parties under a common national program and coordinating key UNP meetings and activities.
