The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) has submitted a proposal to Labour Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando outlining governance reforms for the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF).

The proposal recommends legislative reforms, employer and worker representation on governing boards, qualification requirements for board members, an independent ETF investment committee, and unique identification numbers for members.

The EFC stated the reforms aim to strengthen transparency, accountability and governance in Sri Lanka’s social security institutions.
