Can you introduce yourself to us?
My name is Inthushi Eeksha Nimnadi. I live in Athurugiriya and I’m currently in grade three at Gunasekara Vidyalaya. I live with my parents and my grandfather, who I love spending time with. I have two adorable dogs, a male and a female. The male dog’s name is Brown and the female is Blacky. When I’m not busy with school, I enjoy doing things that make me happy – like drawing, singing, and dancing. I recently became a member of Little Friends at school. It’s been so much fun making new friends and having a great time together.
Inthushi, tell us about your acting career too.
I love acting. I have acted in popular teledramas like, ‘Kopi Kade,’ ‘Senehasa,’ and ‘Aragalaya’. It’s so much fun being on set and bringing characters to life. Apart from teledramas, I have also appeared in a few commercials.
I have worked as a presenter on Lak FM and TV Derana. I also do dubbing. I have contributed my voice to various characters.
This has been a wonderful journey for me, filled with creativity and excitement. I look forward to more opportunities to explore this amazing world of entertainment.
What kind of dancing do you enjoy the most?
I have been training at the Dayan Kahandawala Academy, where I receive training in both traditional and western dance forms. While I enjoy both styles, traditional dancing is the one I like the most. There’s something special about the movements, vibrant costumes, and rich cultural heritage that traditional dances carry. I really like that.
How did you receive an opportunity to make a screen appearance?
I got the wonderful opportunity to make an appearance on screen through my drama classes with Prabath Dushyantha sir on ITN. He must have seen potential in me and given me a chance to act in ‘Kopi Kade’.
After that, I was fortunate to receive another opportunity to act in ‘Senehasa’. It was a great learning experience for me.
Recently, I got the opportunity to be in a Vesak Poya advertisement for a government bank. It was a special project and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
Are there any other extracurricular activities that you do?
I do many fun activities outside of school. I love singing and I’m a part of Ranwala Balakaya. We practise and perform together. I also enjoy drawing a lot. It’s a way for me to be creative and express myself. Apart from that, I go to a dhamma school in Korathota where I learn about Buddhism.
What is your ambition?
My ambition is to be a teacher, just like my mom. I want to teach little kids and help them learn. But I also have another dream. When I grow up, I want to be an actress and presenter. I want to act in movies and TV shows and share stories with people. Being a teacher and an actress/presenter would make me happy.
Have you received any training in announcing?
Yes, I train under Athula Ransirilal sir. I attend his workshops where I learn a lot of valuable skills. His workshops have been really helpful in improving my announcing abilities.
Is there anyone you want to thank?
Yes, there are many people I would like to thank. I am grateful to director Prabath Dushyantha sir, who has been a guiding light in my acting journey. I also want to express my gratitude to Shani Tarangani Abeyratne, who connected me to FM Derana’s ‘Kemmura’ programme, and Madumalee Jayasinghe, who connected me with ‘Ayubowan Derana’.
I would like to thank aunty Anjani Vikrama for contacting me about the programmes at Lak FM. A special thank you goes to Dilrukshi Weeraparakrama for allowing me to perform. Also, uncle Mahesh Karunaratne holds a special place in my heart for giving me the chance to be a part of ‘Senehasa’ and ‘Neluni’.
In addition, I am deeply grateful to my dear mother, father, and everyone in my family. They have always supported and encouraged me. I also want to express my appreciation to Miss Hemamali, my class teacher and my school that has been a constant source of strength.
