Residents of Mannar will continue their protest, which has lasted nearly one hundred days, demanding a halt to new wind power projects and mineral sand mining around Mannar Island.

The Mannar Citizens Committee acknowledged the government's decision not to proceed with new wind power plants but stated that existing issues caused by current facilities remain unresolved.

The Committee representatives emphasised that they will suspend the protest only with a clear assurance from the government to provide fair solutions to current problems and permanently stop the planned sand mining.
