Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Priyantha Jayakody, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly lodging a false complaint, has been remanded until 6 August by the Mahara Magistrate’s Court.
Jayakody was arrested in connection with an incident of allegedly lodging a false complaint, claiming that he has received death threats from organised crime suspect Koralagamage Mandinu Padmasiri, alias ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’. He was receiving treatment at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama, under the custody of the CID, due to an illness.
