Sanjaya Jayawickrama won the gold medal at the Asia-Pacific Masters Games 2023 contesting in the long jump segment with a leap of 5.75 m (19 feet).

Deepal Singh Negi of India was awarded Silver in the same segment while Knomjoe Geeth of Korea won the bronze. The Asia-Pacific Masters games (APMG) is held every four years and is authorised by the International Masters games association (IMGA). The first APMG was held in Penang Malaysia in 2018.

The proud Sri Lankan, Sanjaya, is an old boy of St. Thomas college, Matale. And during his school tenure Sanjaya has displayed his talents in long jump and triple jump events winning first place at school Zonal and Provincial level athletic competition. Presently he works as an executive officer at a garment factory in Bangladesh.
