A flash flood situation occurred in Chilaw city, causing many roads and houses in the town to be submerged.

As a result, the Ananda National College and Vijaya College in Chilaw were temporarily closed.

Local residents claimed that the flooding was caused due to a blockage in the drainage system of the town.
