Heavy traffic congestion is reported on several Colombo roads today (21) due to flooding caused by prevailing heavy rains. 

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution.

The Department of Meteorology stated that a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the east of Sri Lanka persists and is likely to develop into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.

Cloudy skies are expected over most of the island, with showers or thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Southern, and Northern provinces. 

Heavy falls above 100 mm are expected in some areas.
