Three new Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been appointed to the companies established following the restructuring and dissolution of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), according to official internal notices issued on 6 March.

The appointments were made by the respective Boards of Directors of the newly formed entities overseeing electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt) Ltd announced the appointment of Eng. K.S.I. Kumara as its CEO with effect from 10 March. The decision was taken at a Board meeting held on 5 March.

Meanwhile, Electricity Generation Lanka (Pvt) Ltd appointed Eng. N.G. Saliya Panditharathne as CEO on a temporary basis following a Board decision made on 5 March.

In addition, National Transmission Network Service Provider (Private) Limited (NTNSP) confirmed the appointment of Eng. N.S. Wettasinghe as CEO on a temporary basis. The appointment was approved by the Board at a meeting held on 27 January.

According to the internal notices, the newly appointed CEOs will be responsible for formulating organisational strategies in line with company policies, overseeing corporate performance and direction, implementing strategic directives issued by their respective Boards, and managing the administration and operations of employees.

The appointments come as part of the ongoing restructuring of Sri Lanka’s electricity sector, which has resulted in the creation of separate corporate entities to manage generation, transmission, and distribution functions previously handled by the CEB.
