Police have launched an investigation after an audio recording of a group phone call involving underworld figures based overseas circulated on social media.

Police noted that the 22-minute recording includes a discussion between four individuals on alleged criminal activities and drug trafficking.

Investigators are examining a statement in the call referring to threats involving local accomplices and foreign nationals arriving in Sri Lanka.
