President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has congratulated Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his victory in Brazil’s presidential election.

In a post on X, Dissanayake described Lula’s victory as a defeat for corruption, political division and misinformation, adding that the result showed people could not be misled by political dynasties.

Lula defeated right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro in Sunday’s presidential run-off, securing a fourth, non-consecutive term in office, according to Brazil’s electoral authority.
