A woman has died following a bus accident on the Hatton–Colombo main road in the Thanakolawatta area of Yatiyanthota.

The bus was carrying Indian tourists from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo at the time of the incident.

A 40-year-old woman and her two children, who were by the roadside, sustained serious injuries. The woman later died in hospital.

Two Indian nationals on board the bus were also injured and admitted to hospital.

Yatiyanthota Police are conducting investigations.
