The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in several sea areas around Sri Lanka.

The advisory covers sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

Winds may reach 50–60 kmph, with sea waves rising up to 2.5 metres in some areas.

Fishing and naval communities have been advised to follow future weather updates.
