Opposition MPs staged a protest in Parliament by wearing black armbands over the deaths following the Negombo Prison unrest.

The protest called on the government to accept responsibility for the deaths of 27 people, including seven prison officers.

The demonstration took place as Parliament convened on Tuesday(07).

Meanwhile, the government has appointed a three-member Committee of Inquiry to investigate the incident.
