ADB reaffirms support for Sri Lanka’s port sector development

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of Sri Lanka’s port sector, during a meeting with Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka and Deputy Minister Janith Ruwan Kodituwakku yesterday (29).


ADB Country Director Takafumi Kadono highlighted the Bank’s decades-long partnership with Sri Lanka, noting its contributions to key initiatives such as the Western Container Terminal (Phase II) and the National Ports Master Plan.


Kadono assured continued financial and technical assistance for future maritime and transport projects, while Minister Karunathilaka expressed gratitude for the ADB’s consistent support and emphasised the government’s goal of strengthening collaboration further.


Officials from ADB headquarters in Manila and the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation also participated in the discussions.
