The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for rough seas and strong winds in coastal areas from Kalpitiya to Kankesanthurai via Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (27), is valid until 11.00 a.m. tomorrow (28).

Winds of up to 50–60 kmph and rough sea conditions are expected at times.

Fishermen and naval communities have been advised to stay alert and follow official weather updates.
