Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health, Nalinda Jayatissa, has expressed strong support for the appointment of former Member of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Interim Committee, describing it as the correct decision.
Speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (05), Minister Jayatissa highlighted the public’s expectations for the upliftment of cricket in Sri Lanka. He conveyed confidence that Wickramaratne and his team possess the capability to achieve this goal.
He also praised the amicable resignation of former SLC Chairman Shammi Silva, viewing it as a positive example of good governance.
The Minister emphasised the importance of extending necessary support to the new committee to ensure its success in reviving and strengthening Sri Lanka’s cricket administration.
Jayatissa reiterated that the government’s primary objective is to build a capable and experienced team that aligns with public expectations.
He pointed out that the current group includes individuals with extensive knowledge, passion, and administrative expertise in cricket.
Concluding, Minister Jayatissa assured that the Government will provide the required space and support for the committee to carry out its responsibilities effectively, aiming to steer Sri Lankan cricket towards a brighter future.
