The Court of Appeal (CA) yesterday (22) dismissed several petitions filed by a group of Buddhist monks seeking permission to intervene in a writ petition submitted by the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, retired Major General Suresh Sallay.
The writ petition filed by Sallay challenges his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act.
The intervention petitions were submitted by several Buddhist monks, including Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, seeking permission to make submissions before the Court in connection with Sallay’s case. However, the CA ordered the dismissal of the intervention petitions yesterday.
