One person from a group of four has reportedly died at a fishing wadiya in Narakkaliya, Puttalam, after consuming contents of a bottle found floating on the sea, while another succumbed to the effects at the Puttalam Base Hospital. The remaining two victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

This is the second occasion that such an incident has happened in the recent past, highlighting the need for awareness building amongst the fisher community.
