Colombo hosted a solemn commemoration ceremony to honor the memory of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. 

Traditionally observed 40 days after his passing, the event took place at the Iranian Cultural Centre under the patronage of Iran’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Alireza Delkosh.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent Sri Lankan dignitaries, including politician Wimal Weerawansa. 

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei served as Iran’s second Supreme Leader from 1989 until his assassination in 2026.
