The Colombo High Court (HC) sentenced 3 suspects to death today (16) for the possession and trafficking of heroin.

The convicts were arrested in 2018 while transporting over 17 kg of heroin aboard a multi-day fishing vessel off the coast of Beruwala.

According to reports, the HC also ordered the acquittal and release of 5 other defendants who were charged in connection with the incident.
