Discussion on students’ demands for Malwana residence set for today under Prime Minister’s patronage

A special meeting to address the demands of students from the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) regarding the abandoned Malwana residence is scheduled for today (18), at the Prime Minister’s Office, under the patronage of Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya.

The IUSF representatives, who entered the residence on May 14 claiming it once belonged to former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, are calling for the property to be returned for public use.

They emphasise that such properties, allegedly acquired using public funds, should be utilized to establish faculty complexes and student hostels to alleviate the shortage of facilities at state universities.
